Madelyn's Progress Report : March 17th

Today, being St. Patty's Day we think of Luck. This morning Madelyn's doctor told Kara & Bob that she is lucky to be alive and it is a good thing that her heart is as strong as it is. It has helped to keep her alive throughout this. We are SO lucky that she is still with us and still fighting. We are lucky to have all of you to support us and Madelyn.

She is still in ICU in critical condition and still on her ventilator. Although her levels are looking a little better this morning.

Ok, for all of you Sacred Heart people. Here are her stats. :
60% O2 @ 12 Peep. Her Sats are @ 84%. Her creat. level is at 0.87 and she is off the lasix for now. In a 24 hour period, 90cc out in chest tube. They also lowered nitric oxide to 20.
And Bob's blood sugar level is at 500 due to amount of cookies he has gobbled down. Maddy calls her Dad a pig and he's living up to the name with your help. thanks. : )

For everyone else, this basically means that she is more stable and her kidneys and liver are looking better today. She is making baby steps forward and we are grateful for every positive step she is taking. Other than that, she is still a very sick little girl who still needs our prayers.

Thank you to everyone who has shown their support through food, prayers, cards, balloons, cookies, cakes, pie...and most important, Hugs & Love. Kara & Bob are so very lucky to have all of you to support them in this difficult time.

We also want to thank everyone here at Sacred Heart. What an amazing group of people! Thank you for taking such good care of Madelyn. We are Lucky to have you to watch over her.
Keep up the good work everyone!

Maddy still has a long way to go on her road to recovery and we will continue to support her along the way.

  2. Bob, Kara, Mallory and Family,

I continue to keep you in my prayers. I think about you all the time. Maddy is a tough cookie, that heart is strong, and I am so happy to hear her slow but steady process. I am so glad that we have reentered eachother's lives recently. Maddy gets her sheer pluckiness from you Kara, entering my parents' house all these years to say hi. Could've bowled me over with a feather. She must get her tenacity from you Bob. I think of you struggling to walk on your home made rope to make a circus for your little girls! I just adore you guys. There is no one else like you and your family. The love of family you guys show is what makes me adore you all the more! And Mallory with those big brown eyes, always ready to show her latest find or tumbling trick. I know all these qualities in you have kept Maddy fighting where others would not have been able to keep up the fight.

As soon as I get into town, I'll send over the package for the girls I've been wanting to send as their B-day gifts for the year. I think watching caterpillars turn into butterflies is perfect considering Maddy's recovery.

    Love you lots
    Anna and Family

  3. Dear Maddy,
Today is my birthday (St. Patrick's Day) and I am also Irish...I am sending you my magic Leprechauns and Lucky 4 Leaf Clovers plus all my continuing prayers and love to you.
The Magic Fairie dust that is being sprinkled all around your bed is gold and it is very healing. There are pretty fireflies and gorgeous butterflies too...all for you, Maddy.
With your strength and all the love around you and your family you will keep taking baby steps until you are leaping to be well.
Sure do need you at the River this summer!!
Love, Nan Harmon and Bart too.

  5. Hi Maddy and family,

The women at Summit Ridge Christian Fellowship prayed for you often at our retreat this weekend and we will continue to. We are asking for full recovery, comfort for your friends and family, wisdom for your doctors and much more. The Lord God loves you and will sustain you through this. Even though I have never met you or your family I wish I could hug you all! I love all your pictures. Looks like you and your sister have a lot of fun together. Keep takin' baby steps so that you are ready to enjoy the sunshine when it finally peeks out.

    Hugs,
    Karen

  24. Good morning all! Just checking in to see the stats. Baby steps are fantastic - thanks Jesus! I am touched and honoured to witness all the hearts and expressions of love y'al are pampered with. What a girl, that Maddy. She is on our hearts and minds continually; as are you all. Thanks for sharing the updates with us. My girls love to be able to connect.

We're home for most of spring break - gone in the middle of the week a bit. Will Mallory be around? The girls are itching for some time with her.

We're standing with you in prayer! Keep on!

    Blessings-

  25. This blog is emotional to read. Maddy has been on my mind and in my prayers. My Mom (a retired nurse from labor and delivery) has never met Madelyn but has her name on a piece of paper that is posted on her cupboard, in her kitchen. Whenever my Mom sees Madelyn's name she prays for her. Glad to hear of her progress...

Thank you for taking the time to blog and keeping us informed. God bless your family.

    Love, Karrina Page (EKG Tech)
