Slow and Steady.....

Slow and Steady is working well for Madelyn and we are all cheering her on along the way. We know that Maddy has already been through more than anyone thought possible and is continuing to kick some butt in her recovery! Way to Go Maddy! You are an inspiration to us all and we love you so much!

Sacred Hearter's, Maddy's cat scan showed no more necrotic tissue, however we now have a clear picture of what condition her lungs are in. The cat scan showed her right lung to be about 1/3 of the size of her left lung. Her sats are continuing to improve and our hope is that with the trach - new ventilator placement her lungs will heal better, faster. Although slow & steady is perfectly fine with us. We will be patient with her healing and encourage her every step of the way.

Thank you goes out to all of you. Team Maddy is doing an awesome job! Keep up the good work Team! Maddy is now able to view her blog and is enjoying all of your heartfelt comments and prayers. Although she cannot talk, her writing-communication skills are really working wonderfully and her smile....Ah, that smile!!!! We are able to see that wonderful smile of hers once again! Amen!

Please continue to keep Madelyn in your thoughts and prayers. We are so very touched by the generosity you have shared with us. I can speak for all of the Johnson-Flock's when I tell you that we truly appreciate what all of you have done and are continuing to do to let us and Maddy know how much you care. Thank you!

Here's to our little butterfly who is slowly, but surely coming out of her cocoon as she nears the day when she can spread her wings and fly once again. Go Maddy Go!

  2. Good morning Maddy,

It's officially spring break. I plan to go out and mess around with all your insect friends today in the yard. I'll send them your love.

Parker keeps asking how "that girl who can do wheelies" on her motorcycle is doing. I told you he wants a lesson. He says prayers for you often and I say them all the time.

Your classmates and I often have a moment of silence (positive thought/prayer time) for you. We sure do miss your brilliant smile.

We did send our surprise home with Mallory yesterday-hope you like it. We don't want you forgetting what we look like (Ha! Ha!)

    Keep fighting "Wheelie" girl.
    Love and Prayers,
    Ms. Johnson

  3. Hi Maddy!
Bart and I are so happy that you are able to read your blog now. If all the Love and prayers that are being sent to you were able to be sewn together to make a quilt, just imagine how big and comfy-cozy it would be!
We were also happy to see the pictures of you and Mallory together again. You are so blessed to have such a wonderful family.
Gentle hugs and kisses to a tough little girl.
    Love...
    Bart and Nan

  5. Hello Maddy!

I am so glad to hear that you are able to read all the great prayers that everyone that loves you are sending to you. Your Auntie did an awesome job setting up this blog for everyone. You are a very special girl (as is your family) to so many of us, I bet you had no idea. Just remember hold your head up high and be proud of yourself for all the fighting you have done to become well again. Soon you will smell the April showers and May flowers. I am looking outside as I am writing to you & am watching all the little birds eating seeds off the ground (we have been feeding the birds and squirrels), it has really been fun to watch. I think that you would enjoy watching them too.

Anyway we will be saying our prayers that you continue to get better and soon will be able to have visitors, people will be lined up for miles to say Hi! :)

We love you, take care and Happy Spring! xoxoxoxo

Love, Carrie - Bob - Bryce & Hunter

I am so glad you are able to read your messages now Maddy, it really. I have been thankful to read here everyday of your continued progress.
Slow and steady is really what it takes. A saying that we use in our household is "It's a marathon, not a sprint." I think you may be able to relate. Keep on healing Maddy!
I'm looking forward to the party this summer where your Auntie can give you your award!!
So how about those hamsters? What color? Name? One or two?
    Keep healing.
    God Bless, Julie S.
