This morning I want to first say that when it comes to awesome parents, Bob & Kara take the cake. To have two daughter who hold so much strength is a reflection of what they have instilled in them. Madelyn is fighting so very hard to get well and Mallory is showing more strength than any of us. Way to go Johnson Girls! Way to go Bob & Kara!
We are happy to share that we are moving slowly forward today. She is still in an induced coma due to the paralytic drugs. Madelyn had another good night and responded to the sound of her Dad, Mom, and nurse Scott last night. She also opened her eyes at the mention of a hampster. The pet that she has been begging her parents for. She wiggled her hands and feet to voice command as well. This is reassuring us in so many ways that she is fighting and is working as hard as she can to get well. She is still on the ventilator and will be for a while to allow her body to continue to heal, especially her lungs, which were hit hard.
For the Sacred Hearters : Peep @ 11 w/ O2 @ 60%. Labs are still steady. Blood pressure elevates when we enter the room.
We are smiling with tears of hope in our eyes today and are feeling more optimistic of Maddy's recovery with each passing minute, hour, and day.
Thank you once again to all of you. This takes the kind of loving team-work that you are giving the family and Madelyn and we could not imagine trying to go through this without you all.
Please continue to keep Madelyn in your thoughts and prayers as she still has a long way to go in her healing journey.
Hi Maddy,
ReplyDeleteGod is so Great. Keep on fighting!!

Oh and Maddy I think you deserve a hamster and a pony!!
ReplyDeleteMaddy I will be bringing a hamster cage over soon. I don't think we can have it in the hospital, but I will hold your Dad to it. :) We want you healthy and well as soon. You are showing everyone just how strong you are. We continue to think about you and are looking forward to talking with you soon.

ReplyDeleteThe hampsters of the world beware...Maddy is on her way! As one of the "Sacred Hearters" I just want to say how much we appreciate being kept in "the loop" this way. We are such a family here, and Bob is one of our BEST!! He must have passed that strength on to his daughter as we are seeing her true spirit fighting so hard every day. Bob and Kara, just know that we are here for you, keep the faith, we KNOW your little girl is going to come out of this.

I have been waiting all day with butterflies to find out how our girl is doing. I wasn't able to access e-mail at work. I have tears of joy running down my face for the little steps forward. Mama Kara and Bob, I can't tell you wonderful it was to hug you both the other night. My family is truly blessed to have you guys as friends.
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
Kat

Bob and Kara,
ReplyDeleteFrom another one of the Sacred Hearters. I was so pleased to see the twinkle in Bob's eyes this morning when he talked about Maddy's eyes opening, and responding to your voices. She is a fighter and each day she makes another step towards her recovery, at her pace. Bob, just remember your team in the ED loves you adn will do whatever it takes to help your family this most trying time. We care!
Hi Madelyn, it's mommy. I just wanted to tell you how proud I am of you for fighting so hard to get better. I know now that you can hear daddy and I talking to you and I am so incredibly happy for that. You are a super smart and super strong little girl. Please keep fighting hard to get better. I love you and your sister more than anything in this entire world. Thank you for being so strong. I love you Madelyn Marie. Mommy
ReplyDeleteDear Maddie, This is Mrs. Miller. I just wanted to let you know that I have been thinking of you. I miss seeing you at recess every day. I always look forward to your big smile. I know you are fighting hard and will beat this thing. Keep the faith! Love, Mrs. Miller
ReplyDeleteHey Maddy!!
ReplyDeleteIt's Nicki sending you a little message... I have been checking up on you daily and have been very worried about you! I was thrilled to hear you opened your eyes and moved your little toes! It means so much to everyone. Stay strong and keep fighting K... The team needs there Maddy:) But all in good time!! See ya soon girl. I'm prayin for you!
Love Nicki
Hi Kitty girl,
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how thrilled I am to hear that you are getting stronger and stronger. Any girl that can do wheelies like you can on her motorcycle can surely fight this! You know that Parker is going to want you to teach him how to do wheelies now. We are looking forward to when you feel better so we can go hit some trails.
I guess I'm going to need to call you hamster girl now-MoJo (no toe Joe) will be so happy to hear that you will have a little "hammy" of your own to love. You will need to get a ball and track-your kitty's will be sooooo jealous, but entertained.
Guess what I am having your classmates do today? We are making you a tape of us! Our voices...no, we won't sing, that would be too scary (especially my voice). The kiddos want to tell you themselves how much they miss you. Mrs. Pickering is coming in today with tech equipment. (you know how challenged I am in that area) I will have Mrs. H class join in.
I love you kitty girl and we all pray for you daily (acually many times during the day). We can't wait to see you-keep fighting!
Love and prayers,
Ms. Johnson
