Our Sleeping Beauty

I hope this day finds you well as you check in on our little sleeping beauty, Madelyn Marie.
Madelyn is now in a deep, resting, healing induced state to allow her lungs to heal.
The doctors had allowed her to be slightly less sedated to determine if there was any brain damage due to the embolic shower. The fact that she could make small movements on both sides of her body, open her eyes, and communicate through slight nods of her head has given us a little peace of mind.
For now, it is time for our Maddy to stay sleeping as long as she needs as her poor little lungs are in need of some major healing. My hope is that she is able to dream of butterflies, hamsters, kitties, soccer, her Momma, Dad, Sister, and yes, motorcycles. All of her favorite things!

Sacred Hearter's, not too much new news. Her sat is still right around 80-84%. Still much lower than they would like. They talked about moving her to another room, but agreed that she is not stable enough for that. A special thanks to the 6 north crew for their generosity. Thank you!

Thank you to all who have left special, heart-felt messages for Maddy, Kara, Bob, & Mallory. It's comforting to know how many of you are praying for our little Madelyn.

Please continue to keep Madelyn in your thoughts and prayers. She has shown us how truly tough she is. Her coach once gave her the " Goalies Fear Me" award. I think she deserves a, "Strep Infection-Embolic Shower-Pneunmonia-Toxic Shock Syndrome, Beat-up Lungs Fear ME" award! She is a miracle in the making and I could not be more proud of how hard she is fighting! Please continue to hold Madelyn in your prayers. She is still in need of them.

Sleep well our Sweet, Sweet, Madelyn Marie. We are all here for you, cheering you on as you continue to fight. Sleep well, our little Sleeping Beauty.

  1. Madelyn and Family,
We continue to think of you daily and we are praying for Maddy's recovery. We cannot wait for the day when Sharla reports that Maddy spoke to her family and is requesting her favorite food. Thank you for all of the updates.

  2. Happy Friday Maddy!!!

Sounds like your Dad and Mom promised you a hamster when you come home. Now you can sit back and do a little "Hamsters Dance" in your sleep. If you do not know what the "Hampster Dance" is, I am sure you Mom and Dad will have fun showing you. As you won the battle over the hamster, you too shall win this battle of the bugs. I can feel it in my mind, heart and soul.

And now a little note regarding this web site so many of us are glued to every day. I cannot give enough praise and appreciation for the creation of this web page. The status you give us is complete, the pictures bring smiles, the prose is well written and your love, hope and faith shines through. I know others have expressed their gratitude, but again .............
THANK YOU, THANK YOU and THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

    Love,
    Christine & The Burdge Family

  3. Maddy,

Every morning when I wake the first thing I do is check your Aunt Sharla's blog to see how you are doing. I say a prayer for you every night before I fall asleep. The past couple days I've been thinking of cool hamster stuff I can get for you & Mallory. I can't wait for the day you can go home and play like the active little girl you are. For now we hope you sleep and heal and anxiously await the day you can be awake and breath on your own and bless your family with your beautiful smile.

Bob & Kara, you're in my thoughts every day. Maddy wouldn't have had half a chance of fighting this if she'd had different parents. You guys are great, I've always been impressed by how well mannered both Maddy & Mallory are. It's a testiment to you and you alone.

Sharla, I thank you too for doing such a great job on Maddy's site, as always you rock!

My love to all the Flocks and Flock-Johnsons,
    Heather

  14. Hello Johnson Family,
Casey keeps me updated daily on Maddy and just enjoys reading all the responses to Maddy and her family. We are constantly thinking and praying for you all. Maddy, the weather has been really sucky, so stay warm and comfy and take all the time you need to get well. You are our little fighter and we cannot wait to see you around the neighborhood walking the dog or riding your bike with your sister and dad. The entire neighborhood is pulling for you, Maddy...........
