Homecoming!

Happy Sunday to all of you as you begin to greet your day filled with possibilities!
As you know, Madelyn was released from ICU on Tuesday afternoon and has been adjusting to her life at home beautifully!

The first night home was dedicated to family as they all camped out around Maddy's hospital bed in the living room. I can imagine that all the kitties and doggies were able to cuddle up as well. What a wonderful way to spend your first night home, surrounded by family.

Madelyn continues to become stronger each day as she works on her physical therapy, goes for walks, and has her school lessons. Her life is filled with possibilities!
She has proven to us that miracles are more than possible, they are reality!
She has proven to us that beating the odd are possible!
Possibilities are endless for Madelyn and I believe that it is our support and love that fills her with strength for continue pushing forward. Endless possibilities await you Madelyn!

We are also very proud of her sister, Mallory. Mallory showed us all that it was possible to be strong while her sister was fighting for her life. Mallory is a fighter as well and we are so very proud of her too. In fact, in yesterdays soccer game, Mallory scored the only....and winning GOAL!!! Way to go Mallory!

On a side note, many of you have inquired about wanting to help or asking, what can I do? First, you have all done so, SO much! We appreciate each of you who prayed, fed, loved, and cared for us thought about Madelyn over the past 7 weeks. Thank you!

Our dear friend Kat is running Maddy's Miracle Marathon and is taking donations to support Madelyn medical-physical therapy & rehabilitation cost. Please feel free to email me directly with questions. sharlaflock@yahoo.com.
Thank you once again for all of your care and love. We could not have made it through this without you and our hearts overflow with gratitude for you.

So, here's to our lives being filled with love and possibilities for wonderful things to come to us. Our Miracle Maddy has given us all a little bit of hope to hold onto in life and I truly believe that anything is now possible!

  4. Today is a big day here at the Johnson household. Two little furry creatures are going to be arriving within an hour. Bob is out picking them up for Mad and Mal. Bob took pics with his camera and then got the ok from Mad. Friends and family beware...the stankiness could be lethal. Five cats, two dogs, and two hammies...oh no. Thank goodness for air freshener:) I cannot wait until the furry little varments come to join our household or furballs. Yes, these hamsters are going to be furballs. They are Teddy bear hamsters and are they cute. They are brothers and are 4 weeks old. They are fluffy just like they rest of our clan. So, wish us luck today with our new furry and fluffy friends and also wish us luck with kittycat proofing the cages.
Madelyn is doing great. She is actually doing much better than i had imagined she would be after only 5-6 days out of the hospital. Thanks again to everyone at Sacred Heart. Thank you to the childlife specialists who wisked Mallory out of the scary mess when Mad was in the ER and also for doing such a fabulous job of cheering up our sick girl. Thank you LITTLE WISHES (Nettie) and child life Nick(Amanda) for all of the laughs. What great people you are! Here is to a great life with great kids!

  7. Hi Maddy, Mal, Kara & Bob,

I can't believe we aren't in Spokane today. Grampa & I went out golfing with our good friends, Sally & George,(they have been following the blog page faithfully). It feels like a time for celebration! Every day I talk to Dad for an update. Maddy you are such a remarkable girl!! You are recovering so well, better than anyone expected. It has to be the Flock, Johnson genes. We continue to pray for all of you, each & every day.
    It was hampster day today.
I think we need some more animals at the Johnson household, past on any new ideas!

Maddy, you continue to get well, (Bob you too) and Mallory keep scoring those goals. Kara, you are the glue that holds it altogether.
    Lots of love,
Mom, Mary, Gramma & Grampa too

  8. Yippee Maddy!

I can't tell you how excited your classmates were that you went home. The news during their final (boring)WASL really cheered them up.

I am sooooo happy to hear that another Johnson household will also be known as the Johnson zoo. (it takes the pressure off) I hope you have a really good vacuum cleaner for all that "fluff" Mr. MoJo is delighted to hear that two more "hammies" will have loving homes. What are their names?

Well, Maddy I better get ready for school. When you feel stronger your classmates would love a message from you. They prayed really hard and sent positive thoughts to you daily and of course, they really miss you!

    Love and prayers,
    Ms. Johnson D.T.

p.s. Parker and I were hanging out with all our "purple people" at Huskies stadium and campus this weekend. We got to see the new mascot Dubs (Alaskan Malumute) He is so adorable-even a kitty girl like you would have loved him.

  13. Maddy!
I hope you're enjoying the spring air and your 2 new additions to the family. I want pictures! Me and my family have been so excited to watch and hear of your recovery. You're such an amazing girl. Keep up the good work in physical therapy and I'll bet you'll be zooming around, going the kitty run in no time. Give your sis Mallory a hug too. You only get one sister, and you two have an enviable sistership! Ava still thinks of you as the Kitty girl and Mal as the Doggy girl. I hope to see you and your family later in the summer!

  14. Hi Maddy,
Do you still check this blog? If so Happy Cinco de Mayo! What kind of festivities do you have planned today? A little hat dancing with the kitties?

I received your schoolwork from Mrs. Tenold. I almost forgot how pretty your handwriting/printing is. It made me so happy to see Maddy written on the top and of course the quality of work is still tops!

Have a great day and know that we think of you all the time at school and wish you were here with us.

    Love and prayers,
    Ms. Johnson D.T.

  18. Hi Maddy and Mallory,

First of all, what a wonderful sight seeing the two of you out on the driveway enjoying the sunshine with your Mom and Dad today! It warms our hearts to see both of your smiling faces out there again especially with the water balloons! Mallory, too bad I didn't catch the last one you threw across to me before it broke! Maybe next time....

We enjoyed seeing your final soccer game today, Mallory. You are such a good player. Teamwork and attitude are real lessons in life which you're already demonstrating. We are proud of you.

Maddy, you continue to amaze us with your strength. Seeing you go for your walks with your family, smiling, and laughing just makes us so happy. Keep working hard on gaining back your strength. It sounds like your homework is going well. Good for you!!

Girls, take care of those cute fuzzy hamsters. Don't let those kitties or dogs get too near. Hopefully their nightly exercise on their wheels won't keep you awake.

Girls, I know your mom will be celebrating her birthday on Monday, and I'm sure it will be very special with her two beautiful girls home together again! Happy Birthday, Kara!!

    Love,

    Judy and Ed
