The Johnson girls are AMAZING! Madelyn is continuing to do an excellent job in her recovery process as she continues to go on stints of no oxygen, while Mallory scored TWO goals yesterday in her soccer game! Way to go Johnson Girls!!!
The girls played last night, just like the good ole' days and were truly able to enjoy each others company. Madelyn continues to eat well and was able to enjoy some yummy pie and taco bell. MMMmmmmm..... It was a special treat for Maddy for sure.
This morning Madelyn was able to join us at breakfast in the cafeteria and walked all the way back up to her room! OFF OXYGEN! With her sats staying right around the high 80's and low 90's the whole time. Really incredible! She is so strong and doesn't even realize it!
The other super incredible nugget of information is that Madelyn is having her trach removed this morning!!!! I have to fly out this morning and Maddy wanted to have it removed before I left. I have tears welling up in my eyes as I write this because I am so overjoyed with this landmark event. This means that Madelyn is truly ready to move forward and prepare to move home! I can fly with a little more peace in my heart knowing that she is on her way. Our butterfly has emerged from her cocoon and has taken flight.
**As of 10:30 this Beautiful Sunday Morning out Madelyn no longer has her trach!!!!
OH HAPPY DAY!!!!! AMEN!!!!!
Continued thanks to all of you who continue to keep Maddy in your love and prayers. Your support is so very comforting and we appreciate each of you. Thank you!
So, as you move through your day please take a moment to think of Madelyn and all of the obstacles she has had to endure and overcome. Her strength is inspiring and I for one have learned so much from just watching her fight. Madelyn is alive today because of the tenacity she has for living!
Let's celebrate this achievement with Madelyn today. This truly is a special day for her, and for each of us as we are filled with love and pride for her....and a sigh of relief that Madelyn is alive and becoming stronger each day!
Madelyn, You Rock!

ReplyDeleteI am so happy to hear that you are doing so well. I can't wait to see you out side riding your bike with your sister and your mom and your dad. It was great to peek in on you the other day and say Hi. I had a good time at the hospital that day taking care of new born babies, and I owe it all to you. You are so special and so loved and with you in my mind all day I was able to look at each new little life and know in my heart what a gift that life truly is. You have showed everyone just what it takes to survive, you my dear little girl are my HERO.
With you in my thoughts and in my heart you have taught me to live life to the fullest every day and not to take for granted even the littlest things (like BUGS). Thank you Maddy for being a part of my life.
Sending lots of love your way,
Kelley and the entire Gordon Family

Hi Maddy,
ReplyDeleteI bet you are impressed with your sisters soccer skills, two goals? Isn't that a lot for one person in one game? Wow!!
I think I see some sparkles in you and your sisters eyes there!! Glad you had a great day together. It is wonderful that you continue to make gains!! So, what day are you planning on checking out of the hospital?
You look great!! Congratulations on your trach removal, wow........you are amazing!!
God Bless, Julie S.
Hi Maddy and Mallory,
ReplyDeleteEveryday the news gets better, and it makes us so very happy!! I (Judy) talked to your mom for a bit today and heard that the trach tube was removed and that you would be coming home soon. We can hardly wait to see you girls again as we look out our window or work in the yard.
Mallory, way to go with those goals. You need to bring over your soccer game schedule for me so that I can come to a game again. I really enjoyed watching both of you play soccer last fall.
You both look so happy, and we are so thankful. Hope to see you soon.
Love,
Judy and Ed

Good morning Maddy,
ReplyDeleteThank you for starting out my Monday morning with such wonderful news! No trach! You never cease to amaze me-you have such incredible strength. What a fighter!
I heard your brain was bored and you're dying to do some schoolwork? Well, I have a meeting with Mrs. Tenold at 8:30 this morning. You will really like her as she is super nice. I served on the report card committee with her and enjoyed her company greatly. I told her I was jealous that she gets to come spend time with you!
I'll send some ss, writing, math and maybe some science reading. Have fun.
Have another super day.
Love and prayers,
Ms. Johnson D.T.
P.S. The beetles say hello. I found a couple yesterday while weeding and praying.
