I've got the Power!

Each of us hold enormous power. Power to be able to do things that we might not have thought we could accomplish. Madelyn is, in my opinion, the the best example of personal power & strength. Madelyn was, by the assumption of many of her doctors back on March 10,11,12, 13...not expected to live. Madelyn, through her incredible personal strength has and is continuing to overcome the odds! She is breaking the rules and not stopping. She, is POWERFUL!

We, as a family...all of you...we are Powerful! We pray, we love, we care for, and we believed that Maddy would pull through this horrible ordeal. The power of prayer and positive thinking has gone so very far. It is powerful to witness and I am grateful that Madelyn has so many people who are so powerful in her life as well.

Power also comes in the form of little sisters. A little sisters who never complains that she is missing out on her normal life, only wanting to spend every free moment at the hospital so she can be near her sister, Madelyn. The power of love is strong!

Power is all the nurses and doctors who, in the beginning, were working around the clock trying to keep Madelyn alive. The time and care they have invested in Madelyn and our family is powerful. I speak for all of the Johnson-Flock's when I tell you how truly impressed we are by each of you Sacred Hearter's. You have done amazing work with Maddy. And, although we understand that much of her healing has to do with her own personal fight and determination. We also know that you never stopped trying! The power of medicine is alive at Sacred Heart.

Madelyn is still off the vent and continuing to kick butt! She is still on oxygen and will be for some time. She is still in ICU, but getting stronger everyday. She sat up again for most all of the day yesterday and was able to drink on her own, eat her own meals, AND got her feeding tube out!! This is awesome!! It must feel incredible to be able to begin to do the things you used to do. Way to go Mad!! Maddy was also able to enjoy some quite reading time, which we know is one of her favorite things to do. We are all so very happy for Maddy!

Again, many continued thanks for your love and support. We are a powerful group and it is because we have come together in the name of one powerful kid, Madelyn Johnson! Thank you for never giving up and for continuing to be there for us. You have no idea how much you have done. Thank you.

Now, let's head out and enjoy this day! Let's put some power into it!
And, all you Hamblen kids, as you take your WASL, do it with enthusiasm because Maddy would give anything to be able to take that stinky test.

Here's to the POWERFUL Madelyn Johnson!

  1. Hi Maddy!!!
Bart and I have been to Calif. to see my sister and her husband. That is why I have not been in touch for awhile.
The picture of you and Mallory on todays blog is so much like I remember the 2 of you at the River and at 31 Flavors....happy little sisters with much love to share.
Bart and I are so thankful that each day is bringing you closer to your own "Maddy" self. All the improvements I've been reading about since I got back home are incredible!!! Boy, if they had an Olympic Team for miracles, you would win every gold medal in the place. Keep up the fantastical, magical work and remember this....your team is right there with you.
    Love to Miss Maddy,
    Bart and Nan Harmon

  6. Hi Maddy,

When I got off work yesterday, I looked at my cell phone and there was a wonderful new picture of you, outside! Your Auntie Sharla had sent it. She said you went out to the healing garden, across the street. It is so great to see your smiling face. We love the picture of you & Mal in the blog.
We will see you bright & early tomorrow morning. Lots of love, hugs & kisses,

    Gramma J.

  7. Good morning Maddy,

This is your daily Ms. J. fix. Ha! Ha! You thought you could get away from me. Not happening.

You must have remembered the kiddos in your prayers yesterday because they said the test was easy!?! I hope that is true. Oh well, three tests down and three to go next week.

I had the fun experience of meeting your aunt last night. It is no wonder that you and Mallory are two incredible kids. You are surrounded by the "coolest" and most "loving" people around. The POWER of family love.

Thank you for fighting so hard for all of us Maddy. We love and miss you so much! Oh yeah, and thank you for ordering us another beautiful day. I'll give your love to the insects.

    Love and prayers,
    Ms. Johnson D.T.
